Maintenance For Oiled Wooden Floors

Preventative & General Maintenance

• Absolutely avoid using all-purpose cleaners.
• Matting should be kept clean and be large enough ideally to allow two steps across it to prevent dirt and grit being taken on to the floor.
• Protectors (such as felt pads) should be used on chair legs and under other heavy furniture such as pianos to prevent marking the surface.
• Dry Cleaning: Floors should be cleaned daily using dry cleaning methods, such as vacuum, (not uprights or heavy machines that could catch sharp grit under the wheels) scissor mop or soft broom. It is important to remove any abrasive particles of grit and dirt which may scratch the surface when trafficked under footwear, chair legs, and other items moved across the floor.
• Always try a small sample area on your wooden floors before using any products to ensure you are happy with drying times and finishes.
• Coloured oiled finishes may benefit from a coloured maintenance oil depending on the levels of wear, please contact us directly for more information.

Osmo Maintenance Oil

Osmo Maintenance Oil Perfect for hard wax oiled floors and UV oiled floors and specially developed for the most demanding wooden floors treated with Osmo Polyx®-Oil for regular cleaning and occasional refreshing and maintenance (also available in White for White and pale oiled floors). Floors with expected high tread and quick wear can be regenerated and cleaned at the same time with Maintenance Oil. Based on natural vegetable waxes – the timely use can prevent time consuming sanding or renovation work.

Intensive Cleaning & Refreshing

From time to time your wooden floor will need refreshing with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner. This regenerates the Polyx®-Oil and preserves the charm and charisma of your floor. The interval for refreshing your floor depends on its usage. In bars, restaurants and commercial areas the interval for refreshing will be shorter than for normal domestic areas.

• Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner cleans and refreshes in one due to its natural oils and hard waxes.
• Also available as Liquid Wax Cleaner White for white floor surfaces. Also available in a sprayable version. Please use the Osmo Opti-Set with the active fibre cloth. We recommend using the Osmo FloorXcenter for larger areas. High coverage – please apply thinly. 1 litre is sufficient for approx 80-100m².
• Optimal in connection with Micro-Mop Plush from the Osmo Opti-Set for damp mopping, not wet. When required, dry afterwards.
• How often your wooden floor has to be cleaned will depend on the amount of use. In private households, a weekly cleaning routine of damp-mopping the floor is normally enough. In
  restaurants and other high traffic areas you should mop daily.
• For larger areas, we recommend to use with the floor cleaning machine Floor-X-Center.

Special cleaning concentrate for wooden and cork floors treated with Osmo Polyx®-Oil. Highly effective and water soluble for quick, easy and thorough floor maintenance. Just a dash of Wash and Care in mop water removes everyday dirt and grime exceptionally, and thanks to the natural oils, it prevents the floor from drying out.

Renovation & Refinishing

Even a perfectly care for floor will one day show signs of wear. This is no problem, one of the great advantages of oiled finished floors is that, unlike traditional lacquers and varnishes, they can be repaired or finished without the need for sanding.

• First clean the floor thoroughly.
• Manual application: Please apply thin coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil with either the Osmo Floor Brush or the Floor Roller Set.
• Mechanical application (buffer machine): Please use the Osmo FloorXcenter to firstly intensively clean and then apply the Polyx-Oil or Maintenace Oil to the floor. If you have puchased your wood flooring from us, we would be happy to provide this machine for you.
