Gluing your wood floor down to the sub floor is another option. There are some great adhesives on the market at the moment offering very good acoustic values.
If your are looking for a solid wood floor then using glue is a must. Also if you are looking at flowing your wood floor between rooms (through doorways) then using adhesives is probably the best method to use due to the levels and expansion of your floor over a large area.
The glues used are fully flexible allowing your floor to expand.
