Maintenance for oiled wooden floors

         Preventative Maintenance

  • Absolutely avoid using all-purpose cleaners.

  •  Matting should be kept clean and be large enough ideally to allow two steps across it to prevent dirt and grit being taken on to the floor.

  • Protectors should be used on chair legs and under other heavy furniture such as pianos to prevent marking the surface.

  • Dry Cleaning: Floors should be cleaned daily using dry cleaning methods, such as vacuum, scissor mop or soft broom. It is important to remove any abrasive particles of grit and dirt which may scratch the surface when trafficked under footwear, chair legs, and other items moved across the floor.

  • Always try a small sample area on your wooden floors before using any products to ensure you are happy with drying times and finishes.

Keep it simple with a all in one spray mop

DAMP MOPPING

Osmo Spray-Mop makes regular care really easy. The cleaner is sprayed via a cartridge on the handle directly onto the floor and moistures the floor without it drying out and becoming brittle.

Alternatively, you can clean the floor with Osmo Wash and Care using the Micro-Mop from the Opti-Set. Wash and Care contains moisturising substances, which maintain the beauty of your floor for a long time.

How often your wooden floor should be damp mopped depends on its usage. For domestic floors, once a week should be enough. For commercial floors such as in bars, restaurants and other high traffic areas it may be necessary to damp mop daily.

  • The Osmo Spray-Mop is perfect for mopping your floor.
  • As an alternative, use the white Micro-mop from the Osmo Opti-Set.
  • A dash of Osmo Wash and Care in mop water removes everyday dirt and grime exceptionally, thanks to the natural oils which keep the surface looking fresh. Please refrain from using agressive cleaners such as bleach.
  • Advice: Only use a slightly damp, not wet, mop! If required dry the floor afterwards.

Especially developed for the most demanding wooden floors treated with Osmo Polyx®-Oil for regular cleaning and occasional refreshing and maintenance. Floors with expected high tread and quick wear can be regenerated and cleaned at the same time with Maintenance Oil. Based on natural vegetable waxes - the timely use can prevent time consuming sanding or renovation work in public spaces and commercial buildings such as restaurants, shopping centres and even in airports!.

INTENSIVE CLEANING AND REFRESHING

From time to time your wooden floor will need refreshing with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner. This regenerates the Polyx®-Oil and preserves the charm and charisma of your floor. The interval for refreshing your floor depends on its usage. In bars, restaurants and commerical areas the interval for refreshing will be shorter than for normal domestic areas.

  • Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner cleans and refreshes in one due to its natural oils and hardwaxes.
  • Also available as Liquid Wax Cleaner White for white floor surfaces. Also available in a sprayable version. Please use the Osmo Opti-Set with the active fibre cloth. We recommend using the Osmo FloorXcenter for larger areas. High coverage - please apply thinly. 1 litre is sufficient for approx 80-100m².

RENOVATION AND REFINISHING

Even a perfectly care for floor will one day show signs of wear. This is no problem, one of the great advantages of Osmo Polyx®-Oil finished floors is that, unlike traditional lacquers and varnishes, they can be repaired or finished without the need for sanding.

  • First clean the floor thoroughly.
  • Manual application: Please apply thin coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil with either the Osmo Floor Brush or the Floor Roller Set.
  • Mechanical application: Please use the Osmo FloorXcenter to firstly intensively clean and then apply the Polyx®-Oil to the floor.
