The old orange varnish was removed from these floorboards in the kitchen area using our dust free floor sanding machines with help from our floor sanding team of course - Andover.
We receive many calls not just in and around Andover but all over often asking asking about "the black stuff" generally found painted around the perimeters of rooms that have old floorboards. Border painting of floors was the norm back then but only in what we now call reception rooms and what the Victorians called palours; these were generally the only rooms fitted with a rug. original Victorian paint was based on linseed oil and lead along with other sticky suff. The pictures you see below show how it can be removed by our restoration teams.
After all the sanding processes these planks were sealed using Bona Traffic HD.
